Longevity should always be rewarded because it for one it shows a positive relationship between the coach and the program. Two, it shows that the coach has an established identity for that program; and three, that recruiting is strong because mid level recruits are more confident when they know that their coach isn’t going to bail on them as soon as they commit to the program. Coach Howie Dickenman has a winning Northeastern Conference (NEC) record of 183–145 (.557). Coach Dickenman led Central Connecticut State to three (3) NCAA Tournaments (2000, 2002 and 2007) in his twenty (20) years as head coach.
Coach Dickenman announced that he will be retiring at the end of the 2015-2016 season.
